The use of E-scooters on public land is not allowed, and can present a danger to pedestrians and other road users alike. The Neighbourhood Policing Team have undertaken patrols looking for e-scooters being used illegally. Users will be spoken to to address this issue including education and, where necessary and appropriate, enforcement of relevant legislation. Actioned 26 January 2026 |

Checks on LGVs and waste carrying vehicles in Hitchin Urban Issued 12 January 2026 |
The issue of some LGVs and waste carrying vehicles using Hitchin Urban road network whilst contravening relevant road traffic and related waste carrier legislation has been raised as an issue. During January your local team conducted stop checks to make sure that vehicles using local roads to transport waste were doing so safely with secure loads and in accordance with the law.
