I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Anti Social Behaviour, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. In this weekly Herts Connected Update, we go traffic heavy. Following up from complaints regarding the use of vehicles on the road in and around Stevenage Town Centre, and other areas, we have been hard at work ascertaining results that I would like to share in this weekly update.
I wanted to share a result that we managed to get when conducting mobile patrols on Danestrete, Stevenage.
On Monday 13 March 2026, Police were conducting proactive patrols when reports came in regarding a male drug driving in the area. Police stopped a Saab 90 in relation to this report.
Kane Broadbent, aged 26, of Danesgate, was arrested for the following offences;
- Driving without insurance.
- Driving with excess drugs, cannabis (after being drug swiped at scene and testing positive for drug driving).
- Driving whilst disqualified.
- Possession of cannabis.
As a result, he was charged and appeared at Stevenage Magistrates Court on Wednesday 19 August 2026 where he pled guilty to all offences. As a result, Broadbent received the following;
- 12-week imprisonment suspended for 24 months.
- Disqualified for 36 months and 18 months to run concurrently.
- £239 in fines.
You said we did! We have had another successful speeding operation on St Georges Way, Stevenage on Sunday (6 September). A total of five vehicles were issued with speeding tickets with the fastest being 58mph in a 30mph zone. All drivers had been reported and will be attending court in relation to the offences. Various other vehicles were stopped and also given words of advise in relation to their speed. We will continue to conduct these operations over the coming weeks to help keep our roads safe for all.
Whilst conducting foot patrols, various vehicles had been seen committing various moving traffic offences. In total we had;
- X4 Using their mobile phones whilst driving.
- X1 Driving without insurance.
- X1 Driving without an MOT.
Although Police could not stop them at the time, the details of the vehicles used were collated and Notices of Intended Prosecutions were sent out to the registered keepers requiring them to state who was driving the vehicles on the dates and times of the offence taken place. All drivers will be going to court over the coming months.
Operation Scootherts continues to see more seizures, this week being solely illegal E-bikes. As a result, the following has been seized;
- X3 E-bikes
All illegal E-bikes have been seized and sent off to the crusher. Three down, more to go.
 Tackling antisocial behaviour can be a complex issue, and one which requires input and action from more than just the police. The Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 aims to put victims first, giving power to local people and enabling professionals to find the best solutions for their local area. The act provides the police, local authorities and other local agencies with flexible tools and powers that they can use to respond quickly and effectively to antisocial behaviour. These include: - civil injunctions.
- criminal behaviour orders.
- public spaces protection orders.
- community protection notices.
- dispersal powers.
- closure powers.
The act also includes measures such as the Community Remedy and antisocial behaviour case reviews which empower victims and communities to have a say in the outcome of their reports and hold agencies to account.
