Telephone fraud and scam attempts continue to be an issue that affects our residents, especially the elderly and the most vulnerable members of our community. Simple preventive tips could be crucial to help us take proactive, measures:
Do not engage- do not reply, click any links and/or share personal and financial details. Register with your provider to avoid unwanted sales and marketing calls Always use passkey and password for any telephone banking. Stay informed and report any suspicious activity Keep software and apps to date and ensure use of antivirus software Stay safe on social media Ensure Security features are enabled on your personal devices. Report any fraudulent activity to Police via Action Fraud. Remember that Banks and Police will NEVER ask you for banking details and to withdraw cash “to be kept safe”.
