Hertfordshire records biggest fall in robbery offences in the country
Hertfordshire recorded the largest reduction in robbery offences anywhere in England and Wales during 2025/26, according to the latest national crime figures. Robbery offences in Hertfordshire fell by 13% over the year, bucking the national trend which saw robbery increase by 10% across England and Wales. Only six police force areas nationally recorded any reduction in robbery offences. The figures cover both personal robbery and business robbery offences. Four Hertfordshire districts and boroughs were also among the top ten areas nationally for reductions in robbery. Watford recorded the biggest reduction in the country, with robbery falling by 39%. The districts and boroughs ranked among the top ten nationally were: A range of measures introduced by Hertfordshire Constabulary have contributed to the reduction, including targeted hotspot policing, the use of Live Facial Recognition technology, knife detection arches at key locations and preventative work with schools and colleges to educate young people about the dangers of carrying weapons. | ||
