Theft of Motor Vehicle Whiteley Close Dane End

Dear Resident

On Saturday 18th July at approximately 0140 am a theft of a vehicle occurred in Whiteley Close Dane End

A Toyota Hi lux was parked, locked and secure on a driveway at a property in Whiteley Close. CCTV has captured a vehicle enter the road at approximately 01:30am, shortly after unknown offenders have approached the HIlux and removed it from the driveway by unknown means. It is then seen being driven out of the road in convoy with the other vehicle. Both vehicles are also captured passing the village shop and turning towards the A602.

Tips to prevent vehicle crime:

Ensure you lock doors and shut windows/sunroof when leaving your vehicle unattended.

Always remove keys from the ignition when you are not with the vehicle

When parking, remember to set your immobiliser or alarm or use an approved steering lock or gear lever clamp.

Never leave valuables in your vehicle – not even in the glove box or boot – and keep all possessions out of sight – even coats, sunglasses and carrier bags.

Be aware of your keys. Don’t leave them visible on a windowsill or near to your front door, where they could be “hooked” through the letterbox or a keyless signal can be received by relay devices.

If you have a keyless entry car use a signal blocking bag and consider using additional trackers, steering wheel locks or ghost immobilisers.

Store car ownership documents at home, not in your car.
