Theft of Motor Vehicle

Dear Resident

On 30/04/2026 at 03:55 to 30/04/2026 at 04:15 a theft of a vehicle occurred in Nightingale Road, Cheshunt.

Between material times two unknown offenders have approached a grey Mercedes vehicle which was parked on the drive and have taken the car. The victim still has the keys and it is a keyless car. Its likely that the offenders have used a scanning device to unlock this vehicle.

Tips to prevent vehicle crime:

Ensure you lock doors and shut windows/sunroof when leaving your vehicle unattended.

Always remove keys from the ignition when you are not with the vehicle

When parking, remember to set your immobiliser or alarm or use an approved steering lock or gear lever clamp.

Never leave valuables in your vehicle – not even in the glove box or boot – and keep all possessions out of sight – even coats, sunglasses and carrier bags.

Be aware of your keys. Don’t leave them visible on a windowsill or near to your front door, where they could be “hooked” through the letterbox or a keyless signal can be received by relay devices.

If you have a keyless entry car use a signal blocking bag and consider using additional trackers, steering wheel locks or ghost immobilisers.

Store car ownership documents at home, not in your car.
