Theft from Motor Vehicle Ermine Street Thundridge

Dear Resident

At 18:57 on Wednesday 11th March a theft from a vehicle occurred in Ermine Street Thundridge

Just before 7pm on Wednesday 11th March a black vehicle, possibly a Vauxhall Zafira was seen driving slowly along Ermine Street. It came to a stop, a passenger got out, described as a white male, gingerish/blonde hair wearing a black hoodie and light brownish trousers, approached a silver Honda CRV and removed both front and rear number plates, got back into the vehicle and drove away. This incident was captured on CCTV but the image is not clear.

Tips to prevent vehicle crime:

Ensure you lock doors and shut windows/sunroof when leaving your vehicle unattended.

Always remove keys from the ignition when you are not with the vehicle

When parking, remember to set your immobiliser or alarm or use an approved steering lock or gear lever clamp.

Never leave valuables in your vehicle – not even in the glove box or boot – and keep all possessions out of sight – even coats, sunglasses and carrier bags.

Remove your satnav and holder and wipe away suction marks which could indicate that a satnav is stored in your vehicle.

Be aware of your keys. Don’t leave them lying around, visible or in pockets in changing rooms where they could be taken. Don’t leave them visible on a windowsill or near to your front door, where they could be “hooked” through the letterbox.

If you have a keyless entry car use a signal blocking bag and consider using additional trackers and steering wheel locks.

Store car ownership documents at home, not in your car.

Secure number plates with anti-theft screws.
