Closure order for Watford flat following crime and anti-social behaviour |
||
|
Dear Resident A property in Watford is now off-limits for three months following repeated reports to police about significant anti social behaviour and criminal activity. The flat, in St Marks House on Churchfields Road, was the subject of frequent calls relating to drug crime and serious violence, as well as associated anti-social behaviour. Thanks to a joint operation between Hertfordshire Constabulary, Watford Borough Council, and Origin Housing – who worked with affected residents – the full closure order was granted at St Albans Magistrates’ Court on Friday (30 January). The order means that no one is permitted to enter the property for the next three months, other than authorised personnel. Over the next 12 weeks, Origin Housing will be applying to the courts for full repossession of the property. Inspector Simon Cooper, who leads the Watford Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “Residents have a right to feel safe in their homes without fear of being subjected to crime. We and our partners will take robust action against those who cause distress or disruption in our communities. “This closure order is the result of close partnership working and we want it to send a message to people who choose to engage in crime and anti-social behaviour – it will not be tolerated. “We urge residents who are being affected in this way to report their concerns to us and our partner agencies so we can build a case and successfully remove those who are causing issues. It might not be immediate, but we are always working behind the scenes to improve their quality of life.” If you suspect drug-related crime in your local area, report it online at herts.police.uk/report, via online web chat at herts.police.uk/contact or by calling the non-emergency number 101. Always dial 999 in an emergency or if a crime is in progress. Alternatively, you can stay 100% anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their untraceable online form at crimestoppers-uk.org. | ||
