Police are appealing for witnesses, information and dash cam footage following a road traffic collision on the M25. The incident occurred yesterday (Tuesday 27 January) at around 1.20pm near to junction 23 on the M25 (clockwise). A silver Hyundai Ioniq was brought to the attention of police in Potters Bar town centre and failed to stop. This was followed by a pursuit through Potters Bar. The vehicle then continued onto Southgate Road and entered the M25 at junction 24 going towards junction 23, driving in the opposite direction to oncoming traffic, at which point the pursuit was withdrawn due to the risks that it posed to other road users. The Hyundai continued to drive against oncoming traffic on the carriageway when a marked police vehicle driving in the correct direction tactically brought it to a stop. A 43-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of failing to stop, dangerous driving, theft of a motor vehicle, driving while under the influence of drugs, and going equipped. He remains in police custody for questioning at this time. A white Audi, a black Jaguar, a roadside assistance vehicle and a minibus were also affected by the collision. The driver of the Audi, a man, aged in his 60s was taken to hospital by paramedics from the East of England Ambulance Service, as a precaution. Sergeant Tim Davies from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Road Policing Unit, said: “I am appealing for independent witness accounts relating to this collision. If you were driving in the area and were a witness, please contact police to assist our enquiries. “I’m particularly keen to speak to anyone with a dash cam and who was driving in the area at the time in case they recorded any important footage. If you captured anything, please upload this via herts.police.uk/dashcamupload. “I can also be emailed directly via timothy.davies@herts.police.uk. You can also report information online at herts.police.uk/report, speak to an operator in our Force Communications Room via our online web chat at herts.police.uk/contact or call the non-emergency number 101, quoting ISR 281 (Tuesday 27 January). Alternatively, you can stay 100% anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their untraceable online form at crimestoppers-uk.org.
