Theft from Motor Vehicle - various streets in Bengeo Hertford

Dear Resident

Between 22:00 hours on Friday 31st October to 08:00 hours on Saturday 1st November 2025 a theft from a vehicle occurred in Desborough Close Hertford.

Suspect has approached two vehicles in the area before gaining entry, making a search and stealing items from within before making off in an unknown direction, vehicles were a BMW and a MINI.

Between 02:07 hours to 02:10 hours on Saturday 1st November 2025 a theft from a vehicle occurred in Trinity Grove Hertford.

Suspect has approached a vehicle in the area before gaining entry, making a search and stealing items from within before making off in an unknown direction, vehicle was a red MINI.

At approximately 02:00 hours on Saturday 1st November 2025 a interfere with a vehicle occurred in Bengeo Street Hertford.

Suspect has approached a vehicle in the area before trying the door handle, trying to gain entry to the vehicle, entry was not gained and suspect made off.

Tips to prevent vehicle crime:

Ensure you lock doors and shut windows/sunroof when leaving your vehicle unattended.

Always remove keys from the ignition when you are not with the vehicle

When parking, remember to set your immobiliser or alarm or use an approved steering lock or gear lever clamp.

Never leave valuables in your vehicle – not even in the glove box or boot – and keep all possessions out of sight – even coats, sunglasses and carrier bags.

Remove your satnav and holder and wipe away suction marks which could indicate that a satnav is stored in your vehicle.

Be aware of your keys. Don’t leave them lying around, visible or in pockets in changing rooms where they could be taken. Don’t leave them visible on a windowsill or near to your front door, where they could be “hooked” through the letterbox.

If you have a keyless entry car use a signal blocking bag and consider using additional trackers and steering wheel locks.

Store car ownership documents at home, not in your car.

Secure number plates with anti-theft screws.
