Theft of Motor Vehicle, Gammon Close, Hemel Hempstead,

Dear Resident

Between 27/10/2025 22:48 to 28/10/2025 05:41 a theft of a vehicle occurred in Gammon Close, Hemel Hempstead,

Between material times, the IP's vehicle was parked secure and unattended in the drive. The offender(s) are believed to have used the IP's key fob to gain access to the vehicle but there appears to be no entry made to the house. RP believes that the keys could have fallen through a hole in her coat pocket while outside. The offender(s) have then made off out of the close and off in an unknown direction.

Tips to prevent vehicle crime:

Ensure you lock doors and shut windows/sunroof when leaving your vehicle unattended.

Always remove keys from the ignition when you are not with the vehicle

When parking, remember to set your immobiliser or alarm or use an approved steering lock or gear lever clamp.

Never leave valuables in your vehicle – not even in the glove box or boot – and keep all possessions out of sight – even coats, sunglasses and carrier bags.

Be aware of your keys. Don’t leave them visible on a windowsill or near to your front door, where they could be “hooked” through the letterbox or a keyless signal can be received by relay devices.

If you have a keyless entry car use a signal blocking bag and consider using additional trackers, steering wheel locks or ghost immobilisers.

Store car ownership documents at home, not in your car.
