CCTV footage released as part of arson investigation – Watford

Dear Resident

We are releasing CCTV footage as part of our investigation into a suspected arson in Watford.

A stationary Hyundai car was set alight in Whippendell Road, just after 5.20am on Tuesday 15 July.

We are keen to identify two people seen in CCTV footage taken from the area around the time of the incident, as we believe they may have information that could assist our enquiries. The footage can be viewed on the Herts Police YouTube channel.

PC Talisha Jobanputra, who is investigating, said: “Thankfully no one was injured during the incident, but our inquiry is progressing, and we are now releasing footage of two people we would like to identify and speak to as part of our investigation.

“It’s important for the public to know that we are treating the first person seen running – dressed in a dark-coloured jumper and light-coloured trousers – as a key witness, and not a suspect.

“If you recognise either of these people, please get in touch as soon as possible.”

You can report information online at herts.police.uk/report, use web chat at herts.police.uk/contact or call the non-emergency number 101, quoting crime reference 41/65517/25.
