Theft/Attempted Thefts from Motor Vehicles, Stevenage


Dear Resident

 

Between 28th and 29th April, thefts from vehicles occurred across Stevenage.

 

Between 28th April 23:00 hrs and 29th April 07:13 hrs, the rear and side doors on a van were opened and tools stolen in Grace Way. Crime number 41/38873/25

 

Between 28th April 15:00 hrs and 29th April 09:00 hrs, bank cards and letters were stolen from a car in Lonsdale Road. Crime number 41/39022/25

 

Between 28th April 21:25 hrs and 29th April 21:30, an offender was seen in a vehicle by a passer-by in North road Stevenage. Crime number 41/39185/25

 

Between 28th April 15:00 hrs and 29th April 07:00 hrs, sunglasses and change were taken from a vehicle in Whitney Drive.

Tips to prevent vehicle crime:

  • Ensure you lock doors and shut windows/sunroof when leaving your vehicle unattended.
  • Always remove keys from the ignition when you are not with the vehicle
  • When parking, remember to set your immobiliser or alarm or use an approved steering lock or gear lever clamp.
  • Never leave valuables in your vehicle – not even in the glove box or boot – and keep all possessions out of sight – even coats, sunglasses and carrier bags.
  • Remove your satnav and holder and wipe away suction marks which could indicate that a satnav is stored in your vehicle.
  • Be aware of your keys.  Don’t leave them lying around, visible or in pockets in changing rooms where they could be taken.  Don’t leave them visible on a windowsill or near to your front door, where they could be “hooked” through the letterbox. 
  • Register your valuables on www.immobilise.com.
  • Store car ownership documents at home, not in your car.
  • Secure number plates with anti-theft screws.
