Officers from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Road Policing Unit are appealing for witnesses and dash cam footage after a serious road traffic collision in Harpenden this evening (Thursday 20 February). A black Kia Picanto was in collision with two pedestrians on St Albans Road by the Bull Road roundabout at 7.30pm. Officers attended along with colleagues from The East of England Ambulance Service. The pedestrians – a man and a woman aged in their 70s – have been taken to hospital with serious injuries and remain in a critical condition. Road closures have been put on St Albans Road and Bull Road. Sergeant Luke Jenkins said: “I am appealing to anyone who was travelling on St Albans Road earlier this evening and witnessed the collision or saw the vehicle travelling in the area prior to it, to please contact me. “We are especially keen to review any dashcam footage which could support our investigation. “I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank motorists for their patience while the road closure is in place.” You can report information online at herts.police.uk/report, speak to an operator in our Force Communications Room via our online web chat at herts.police.uk/contact or call the non-emergency number 101, quoting ISR 627 of 20 February. Alternatively, you can stay 100% anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their untraceable online form at crimestoppers-uk.org.
