41/8059/25  - Montgomery Avenue, Burglary

Dear Resident

Between 03:00 - 04:00 on the 26/01/25, a burglary took place in Montgomery Avenue, Hemel Hempstead

An address on Montgomery Avenue was broken into yesterday, whereby the offender/ offenders gained entry by trying the front door handle which happened to be unlocked. Due to this opportunistic behaviour please ensure you secure your property by locking all exterior doors. We highly recommend installing a camera door bell/CCTV if you haven't already, to act as a deterrent as well as capturing any unusual behaviour.

Please contact the police on the non-emergency number 101, quoting crime number 41/8059/25 if you or your neighbours have any information relating to this crime. Alternatively, you can give information anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Please be vigilant and do report any suspicious activity or behaviour in the area.

Tips to prevent burglary:

  • Check downstairs windows and doors are securely locked before you leave or go to bed.

  • Use a “Fake TV” or timer switches on lamps to give the impression someone is at home.

  • Don’t leave keys, phones or other valuables on windowsills or in any other visible place.

  • Secure UPVC doors by lifting the handle and locking it to engage the security features.

  • Consider using a doorbell camera, interior camera or a monitored burglar alarm.

  • Securely lock rear gates, sheds and garages.

  • Keep tools and ladders locked away, as they could be used to break into your home.
