Hare coursing / poaching


Dear Resident

Between 1st and 2nd of February 2025 damage was caused to crops growing in the fields off Hornhill Road and Behind The Pollards, Maple Cross.

Ten plus off road vehicles, quad bikes, have driving on to numerous fields, causing considerable damage to wheat and barley crops growing, We have also seen an increase in coursing and poaching in the same area. 

If you saw anything suspicious, please contact the police non-emergency number 101. asking for the information that you are providing to be passed to PC 1594 GOTTMANN. Crime number Alternatively, you can give information anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Crime number 41/11888/25

Tips to prevent hare coursing and poaching:

  • Remain vigilant in rural locations and report any suspicious activity in the area. This may include 4x4 vehicles or vans parked in remote rural location at the roadside of fields. 
  • Report groups of people seen with multiple dogs walking across cropped fields.
  • Report locations using What Three Words App (W3W).
