Dear Resident, Welcome to this month's Potters Bar and Shenley Neighbourhood Policing Team round-up. The below is a summary of some of the work we have done during October: The whole team contributed to obtaining charges in relation to retail theft in Potters Bar- A 44-year-old man from Waltham Cross was charged with two counts of theft and breach of a Criminal Behaviour Order
- A 51-year-old man of no fixed address was charged with five counts of theft in Potters Bar, as well as 21 other thefts in the Metropolitan Police Area
PCSO Ramdeen was on patrol in High Street, Potters Bar when he spotted two males who had been identified as responsible for some thefts in the town. The males were detained and PC Amabilino attended and arrested both males and they were subsequently charged:- A 31-year-old male of no fixed address was charged with 1 count of theft in Potters Bar
- A 51-year-old male from Greater London was charged with 5 counts of theft in Potters Bar
We also have a couple of repeat shoplifters in Potters Bar that we have not yet been able to identify. We have conducted plain clothes patrols around Darkes Lane in a bid to stop them, and will continue to do this through October until we manage to catch up with themWe took part in Safer Business Action Week:- We took our trailer to Darkes Lane and the High Street alongside Hertsmere Borough Council’s Enforcement Officers to engage with businesses and the public
- We held a Fraud and Crime Prevention Event on Darkes Lane
- DS Buckley attended a meeting with some business owners to discuss how we can work together to prevent crime
- We conducted patrols at Potters Bar Train Station alongside the Rail Enforcement Team
- PC Begg and PCSO Lavell conducted some test purchasing with the Hertsmere Police Cadets, checking that stores were complying with age requirements for knives and alcohol. We run these regularly and this is the first time all the stores passed which is excellent news!
- We held a community engagement event at Tesco in Shenley
PCSO Lavell and PC Amabilino attended the Community Café at St Martin’s in ShenleyPCSO Lavell and PCSO Ramdeen held a community engagement event at Sainsbury’s in Potters BarPCs Amabilino and Chapman, and PCSOs Lavell and Ramdeen, attended Pope Paul school to speak to the reception class about keeping themselves safeWe spent Halloween on patrol in Potters Bar and Shenley to identify and deter any anti-social behaviour. It was a busy night across Hertfordshire however I am pleased that the number of calls in our area were very low with only a handful of incidents reported in Potters Bar and Shenley. We will also have dedicated patrols for Bonfire Night next week.I’d like to take this opportunity to remind you that the clocks going back is often a pre-cursor to a rise in residential burglaries. Homes where nobody is home can be very easy to spot if they are left in darkness. If you are going to be out after sunset, please consider the use of timer switches or smart bulbs to give your home the appearance there is somebody there. As always this only highlights some of the work done by the Potters Bar and Shenley Neighbourhood Policing Team. It doesn’t cover everything we have done, and doesn’t include the work of the other teams that also operate in Hertsmere. |
